Streamsong Black

Sited on the ridge of the highest hill on 250,000 acres of middle Florida reclaimed land, the Streamsong Black Golf Clubhouse was conceived as an object to be seen from a distance and from within. The building program is simplistically rendered as a glass box that contains the restaurant and bar, and a solid box that includes the kitchen, restrooms, and golf shop. The plan juxtaposes the solid and transparent volumes; sliding past each other to reveal the horizon from within. There is no attempt to compete with nature’s splendor–the architectural gestures are meant to enhance and allow for uninterrupted viewing of the Florida landscape.
