Hotel Eleo
Located at the intersection of two major road ways in Gainesville, Florida, Hotel Eleo establishes the southeastern boundary to the University of Florida’s Shands Hospital Campus. The narrow serpentine form cradles Rush Lake to the north, forming with the adjacent existing buildings the Circle of Hope, a protected interior plaza, offering a place of retreat for the families of the hospital’s patients. The weathering steel (corten) panels’ color recollects the brick façades of the old campus center, grounding the project within the historic context. Contrasting with the weathering steel on the south façade, the north façade’s floor to ceiling glass maximizes exposure to light and views for the longitudinally oriented guest rooms. Both internally and externally, there is a warm and inviting tone to all materials selected, providing a warm and inviting experience for guests.
