Tampa International Airport Airside C is a 16 gate, 315,000 sf airline terminal serving Southwest Airlines, Independence Air and Spirit Airlines. Airside C expresses the drama and excitement of travel through its architecture as the building design is a conscious effort to capture the nostalgia of the midcentury jet set experience. The itinerary of the terminal is meant to lead the passenger through a calm and stress-free experience before embarking on their journey to a new location. Cited by AIA New York design jury as “the best new airside terminal in America,” the travel experience of the Airside C Terminal re-invents the typology by infusing public art and sculpted materiality atypical to airport design.
